This will be a long weekend for me. No work on the 1st and 2nd of November for All Souls and All Saints Day respectively. I might go to my uncle's house so I can join them visit my departed Aunt and spend time with my cousins.

Tomorrow, I will be joining my team mates with Shogun to compete in the Mini Gen Con at Eastwood City. My team mates with TX will be there too. \:D/

Interview

It's been almost a year since I tried applying in this pure Java Development Company. And now they kept in touch and scheduled me for an interview. They were made aware that I have an exisiting contract bond with my current employer but they still continued with the scheduled interview. Until now I have not received word from them but I am hoping for a positive feedback.

The technical skills interview they conducted enlightened me that my interview questions in doing technical skill interview is still lacking in content. This gave me a chance to improve on my question set and hopefully, improve the interviews I am conducting.

First Vintage Tournament

Went 2W-4L playing Fish. I am sharing a quick report even if it isn't a winning record.

First round: Against tmmate JT: 5/3 - 7/10
G1: He won the die roll and went to play first turn Juggernaught, thru a land, sol ring, manavault. L
G2: He was able to play Sundering Titan. L

0W-1L

Second round: Against Cheng: GAT
G1: I never remembered I did anything special, and I do remember having him all the good draws. L
G2: Same as game 1? L

0W-2L

Third round: Against Fabbie: Goblin Welder based.
G1: I was able to disrupt him early with a pair of wastelands. W
G2: Same as game 1? W

1W-2L

Fourth round: Against elmo: Oath
G1: It was a pretty good game aside from he was able to play CoW first, and there was a strip mine in the yard. L
G2: The tech from the side is effective. Hidden Gibbon beating me and Timewalk for the kill! L

1W-3L

Fifth round: Against dawgie: Landkill
G1: I won when he played CotV for 1 and i have a Grim Lavamancer in play,
G2: He won with ankh of mishra and he continually beat me with elves and land denial. L
G3: He won with elves and troll ascetic. L

1W-4L

6th round: Against Res: Goblin Welder based
G1: I won by disrupting his early turns with wasteland and some timely counters. W
G2: He won by being able to tinker in Sundering Titan. L
G3: I was able to play Null Rod while he there was artifact lands in play. W

2W-4L

- Fish really dies to fat critters. And If I do not have any Counter in hand in the first two turns, it seems there is a need to mulligan to get a Daze or a Force of Will. I was keeping hands with Standstills, Grim Lavamancer, Spiketail hatchling without a counter thinking it was a good hand but without a counter, as my opponent was able to play their key spells without having any resistance.

- Putting in 2-3 bounce spells main might be a good idea, or maybe adding in main deck artifact hate might be sound. the reasoning for the bounce is to be able to bounce anything that slipped thru. main deck artifact hate since i've never faced a deck without any form of artifact. I'm not sure about this though.

- Putting in chalice at the side did not help. Or maybe because I never tried to mulligan even once in the tournament. On the first place, I do not know what a good hand is against any of the decks I faced, so I thought all my hands were great! rolleyes.gif
